Ive been watching the NASA channel and getting downright disturbed!
Whats all this about different boosters, rockets, manned and unmanned payloads and all the other things that are being talked about?
Like using the External tank and ssrb's ?
What about all these dudes showing slides of different programs that have yet to be financed talking to a board or council ?
Is it because we have a gap between when Aries I and II come out and the end of the shuttle program?
Is NASA suffering from ANOTHER budget cut and have to redesign the whole manned space program?!!
All this messing around with changing programs in mid stream is going to make it very possible that the Chinese will be the first people to land on the moon after the Apollo era.
Maybe this country doesnt really care about the prestige from being the first country to get back to the moon.
Guess not enough of us manned space exploration fans are squawking loud enough to our congress and president.
Oh well, I think im going to learn to speak chinese so that I can understand the broadcasts from the moon in the future.
Sincerely,
David
Oh ok I just read on nasa.gov what the blue ribbon panel is for.
I still got depressed watching all these different plans, afraid that NASA is changing in midstream.
At the request of the Office of Science and Technology Policy, NASA has established the Review of U.S. Human Space Flight Plans Committee. The Committee will conduct an independent review of ongoing U.S. human space flight plans and programs, as well as alternatives, to ensure the nation is pursuing the best trajectory for the future of human space flight - one that is safe, innovative, affordable, and sustainable.
The review is being led by an independent, blue-ribbon panel of experts working closely with a NASA team and will be reporting progress on a regular basis to NASA leadership and the Executive Office of the President.
