I know it probably hasn't, but I've noticed a HUGE reduction in the level of activity of this site. And also, for that matter, will there be another update? Well, hope this site hasn't died.

I hope not... but, it probably IS a quick hit & run type of setup. You know, make the game, make the money and on to something else... Can't blame 'em, with this economy. Updates would sure be nice, though.

Geeze, no the site has not died. There is lots of good game play information here. SpaceStationSim is still the ONLY video game ever developed in collaboration with NASA under a space act agreement and is still the most detailed consumer simulation of how to sustain life in space. But the Vision team has moved on to working for NASA on the Constellation program, (now cancelled) and other projects. I spent SEVEN YEARS of my life developing SpaceStationSim, so to call it a hit and run is really sad and couldn't be further from the truth. Bill

I would love to provide an editor for SSS. Unfortunately, we used a commercial engine named Renderware to build it and after we finished SSS it was sold to EA who promptly killed it. We paid$250K for a limited license as well, so the chance of just distributing it is really out of the question.

I didn't mean the site in general, I just meant the forum, because there's not alot of activity.

They could do Space Station SiMs and capitalize on the existing SiMs fan base.

Well im not sure if this game will be updated again, or if you devs have moved on to other things, or since enlight is gone maybe you aren't allowed, but i'm going to play through from scratch and see if i can come up with a few more idea's, in any case i'd like to say i enjoy this Sim alot, and find myself coming back to it every so often, never uninstall it either for that matter, i would like to see this sim develop further (nasa visions on spaceflight and visiting other planets/solarsystems) but under the circumstances that might not be possible, i do have some ideas that would be somewhat logical and realistic steps to take for ensuring in or out of solar system stuff, allthough some based on tech nasa and affiliates are working on, these promising (realistic) theoreticals could be added.
In (my) theory, i do think for example that the logical steps to visit other places is this for ex. "new planet" (not all relevant to this sim but alot is): ISS-contact with MCC, Survey, probe, scout, map, small module based ship, manned expedition, small station -contact with ISS -relay to MCC, expand on small station -get materials from earth, mine+colonize planet -new earth-ISS type sustained station at the new planet, do same for other planets. And at the station orbitin the new planet there would be a number of new research topics, similar to the ones allready there such as metallurgy, how vegetation grows etc. The fact that this is a space station sim means it would focus more on the station side of these aspects, however, there is no reason why you couldn't add a small "starter" colony sim in this sim aswell, as many of the duties of the new planets space station crew would undoubtedly have to do with visits planetside and setting up a base colony and sending modules/supplies/people there. Though this might be reaching alittle...

I think that some marketing would help as well. I am Extremly interested in space travel and Nasa's work to get us to space, yet i just found this game. A little marketing goes a long way. Haha

If EA has the rights to the engine maybe you can talk to them about one of my favorite EA games of all time. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth_Orbit_Stations. This and Space Station Sim should be a natural fit.
